WIFI HOTSPOT-

The WiFi hotspot acts like your WiFi router at home. You can connect your external devices to the onboard router or hotspot in order to get connection while inside the car. It allows for Broadband and LTE access.

Getting Connected:

1.  Navigate to the "Communication" menu on the iDrive homescreen. Then, select "manage mobile devices" followed by "connect new device". Select "internal hotspot". 

2. Your hotspot name and case-sensitive key, or password, will be displayed. THe default hotspot name is "My BMW Hotspot ####". The vehicle's Internet hotspot network is now discoverable for 120 seconds. 

3. From your device, search for the vehicle's hotspot by its name and connect to it by entering the hotspot key when prompted on your device.

In order to use the Internet hotspot, your vehicle must have an active BMW ConnectedDrive subscription and you must register for a Trail data plan.

Change WiFi Hotspot name. 

You can use the iDrive system to change the WiFi hotspot name or password key. From the Communication menu, select "manage mobile devices", "connect new device and internet hotspot". While highlighting internet hotspot on the display, press the OPTION button on the iDrive controller. Here you can use the speller or touch keyboard to make changes to the name or password.
